The core of our brow philosophy is in the art of proportion and symmetry. So naturally, when it comes to the rest of your ABH look, our other products are no different. When we created Smooth Blur Contour Stick, we knew that it would be a game-changer for replicating the sculpted and refined features that dominate fashion runways, street style and trending tutorials. Read on for our pro artistry tips for how to use Smooth Blur Bronzer, plus the essential tools and product pairings to recreate the look from home.
The Golden Proportion Method
The Golden Proportion Method is rooted in our exact ethos: that beauty is about balance, not perfection. Anastasia Beverly Hills was founded on the unique application of this method that keeps balance, proportion and harmony at the forefront. Anastasia uses it to inform everything she does, from brow grooming, to arches to, now, contouring the face. Based on this method, the face is comprised of three zones:
- Zone 1: Forehead & Brows
- Zone 2: Eyes, Nose & Cheeks
- Zone 3: Lips, Chin & Jaw
Use the Golden Proportion Method to apply Smooth Blur Contour Stick and other products, such as Magic Touch Concealer, to create balance of the face. It’s all about adding both light and shade in three zones: top, center and bottom. Light is used to highlight, accentuate and add volume to higher points of the face, while shade (usually in the form of contour), is used to sculpt, define and mimic shadow in areas that need correction, balance or depth (like under cheekbones). Contouring uses darker, cool-toned shades to mimic shadows and define features (like cheekbones and the jawline), and highlighting uses lighter or shimmery shades to reflect light and bring features forward (like the bridge of your nose and top of cheekbones).
Face Mapping - Where to Contour & Conceal
Face mapping is a makeup technique that identifies key areas of the face where contour should be applied to enhance natural bone structure. Using Smooth Blur Contour Stick and Magic Touch Concealer, you can refine, shape and sculpt facial features effortlessly. Start by applying Magic Touch Concealer to areas you want to highlight, brighten and lift such as the center of the forehead, under the eyes, bridge of the nose, tip of the nose and chin. Then apply Smooth Blur Contour Stick to areas you want to define, sculpt or minimize, such as the hollows of the cheeks, hairline, temples, chin and nose.
Blend Like A Pro – Focusing on Blending Tools & Artistry Tips
Now, you’re ready to blend, set and perfect. Use your A30 Brush and Loose Setting Powder to blend both the highlights and contour, starting from the center of the face to the outer edges. We recommend making vertical strokes down the center, such as the bridge of the nose, chin and between the eyes to keep your highlights bright, then blending out from there. The result? A smooth, sculpted, natural-looking complexion that will serve as the ideal base for your iconic ABH face.
Complete Your Look + Micro Tutorial
Want to elevate the look? We recommend starting with Impeccable Foundation before your highlight and contour, to set the perfect tone for a smooth, blurred base. It wouldn’t be an ABH face without iconic brows, so go in with one of our famous brow products like Brow Wiz® to frame your face and features. Finally, you can get creative with eyes, lips and cheeks to cement your custom look. We love pairing fan-favorite Lip Velvet with sculpted skin to get a stunning pout that lasts from day to night. It’s available in a wide range of shades from light and natural to bold and dramatic.
