The 44 shades are divided into five skin tone groups: Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Deep. You should start here by picking the collection that’s closest to your natural complexion. You’ll see the five skin tones on the shade breakdown wheel.

FIND YOUR UNDERTONE

As you look at the wheel, did you notice how the skin tones are subdivided into undertones? That’s where we take a deeper look at your skin to find the most precise match. 

The undertones are: Warm (golden hues), Warm Peach (warm with peachy hues), Warm Olive (warm with olive hues), Cool Rosy (cool tones with pink hues), and Neutral (in between warm and cool).

Not every skin tone divides exactly evenly into the five undertones, and some of the Impeccable shades sit on the cusp of two different tones, just like your Capricorn-Aquarius BFF celebrating her upcoming birthday. But understanding the undertones available will help point you toward the two or three shades you want to sample first.

Using a sampler, dab a swatch on your jawline and blend in using your fingertips or a brush. Apply to bare skin and in natural light so you get a true color impression. Be sure to let the matte formula set before you judge the color. If you’ll be using Impeccable over discolored areas, you want to match your surface tone, not the blemish.
