Born in Inglewood, California, 85-year-old astrologer Patrick Lewis is a lifelong Californian. His ancestors settled here in 1887; his father sang the National Anthem at the 1932 Olympics in L.A. During his early years, Lewis wanted to sing too, but the stars had other plans for him.
When his father passed away, Lewis, the eldest of four siblings, took it upon himself to support his family, finding work in a plant nursery. He later went on to become a hair stylist, training under Jay Sebring, who was infamously murdered by Charles Manson’s acolytes.
His career boomed. All the while, Lewis was studying more esoteric arts: Aura Readings, Tarot Cards, etc. With a minister friend. When they got on to astrology, he was hooked. “Once I started making horoscopes, I was really into it for some reason,” Lewis remembers. “I never stopped.”
